Selected Studies In

Psalms: Psalm 95

INTRODUCTION TO THIS STUDY

The purpose of this work is to guide you in Spirit Filled interpretation of this "Selected Study". As necessary we will provide outlines, historical backgrounds, note the purpose and focus of the text, and also provide the original hebrew language definitions for the key words in the highlighted text. The English translation used is the King James (Authorized) Version, not because it is the best translation available, but because I just plain prefer it for study!

All Scripture text will be presented in normal cased lettering, and all notes within the text will be in TRUE TYPE FONT, as shown. This (I hope) will allow you to avoid confusion between God's Word and my notes. As I update this website, I will continue to embellish the text so that anyone using NETSCAPE 3.0 or MICROSOFT 3.0 will be able to read the document easier.

If you discover obvious errors (as I am human, and do make mistakes), please let me know. Do not contact me to argue about the doctrinal differences that you may have with my teaching. I do not argue Theology with anyone, so all Legalists, cultists, and others with extremist views, please save your (and my) time. If you want to discuss your doctrinal differences, or share a viewpoint, please contact me at Didaskalos Ministries. I am not so arrogant as to think I know it all, or even 1% of what the scripture teaches.

Through Christ, Who taught us the way to Love: David Buffaloe, Didaskalos Ministries

Ps:95:1:

O come, (JALAIL, KAL IMPERATIVE = LET'S ASSEMBLE TOGETHER) let us sing (PEAL IMPERFECT, RANAM = TO SING LOUDLY OR ENTHUSIASTICALLY) unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise (RAWAH = TO FEAST AND BE SATISFIED) to the rock (TSUR = THE ROCK OF EXODUS 17, REPRESENTING JESUS CHRIST) of our salvation. (JESHUA = DELIVERANCE)

Ps:95:2:

Let us come (QADAM, KAL IMPERATIVE = TO COME WITH ANTICIPATION) before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise (RAWAH = TO FEAST AND BE SATISFIED) unto him with psalms.(A SONG ACCOMPANIED WITH MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS)

Ps:95:3:

For the Lord (JHWH = JEHOVAH) is a great (GADOL = GREATNESS IN MAGNITUDE AND EXTENT) God, and a great King above all gods. (ELOHIM = GODS. REFERS TO EARTHLY KINGS AND FALLEN ANGELS THAT PRETEND TO BE GOD)

Ps:95:4:

In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.

Ps:95:5:

The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

Ps:95:6:

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. (ASAH = MANUFACTURER, ONE WHO MAKES SOMETHING OUT OF SOMETHING)

Ps:95:7:

For he is our God; (ELOHIM = TRIUNE GOD, GODS) and (INFERENTIAL WAH = THEREFORE) we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep (AN APPROPRIATE TERM FOR US. SHEEP CANNOT GUIDE THEMSELVES, ARE HELPLESS WHEN INJURED, ARE DEFENSELESS, ARE EASILY FRIGHTENED, AND CANNOT FIND FOOD OR SHELTER BY SMELL OF SIGHT. WE ARE GOD'S SHEEP) of his hand. To day (HAJON = THIS DAY) if ye will hear (KAL IMPERFECT SHAMA = TO HEAR AND ACCEPT WHAT IS HEARD) his voice,

Ps:95:8:

Harden (QASHAH = TO CAUSE TO HARDEN OR ATROPHY) not your heart, as in the provocation, (MERIBAH = TIME OF BITTER COMPLAINING. LOOKS BACKWARD TO THE TIME WHEN ISRAEL, NEWLY SAVED FROM EGYPT IN THE EXODUS, GRUMBLED UNCEASINGLY AGAINST GOD) and as in the day of temptation (MASSA = REVOLUTION) in the wilderness:

Ps:95:9:

When (ASHER = WHERE) your fathers tempted (MASAH, PEAL STEM = TO TEMPT. GOD WAS TEMPTED BY THEIR DISOBEDIENCE TO DESTROY THAT NATION) me, proved (BACHAN = TO EXAMINE OR TRY, TO PUT TO THE TEST) me, and saw (KAL PERFECT RAAH = HAVING ALREADY SEEN. GOD DISPLAYED HIS POWER AT THE RED SEA BEFORE THE ISRAELITES STARTED GRUMBLING) my work.

Ps:95:10:

Forty years long was I grieved (KAL IMPERFECT QUT = LOATHED) with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err (KAL ACTIVE PARTICIPLE TAAH = TO DEVIATE, WANDER, STRIVE OFF THE PATHWAY) in their heart, and they have not known (LO JADA = HAVE NOT KNOWN OR PERCEIVED) my ways:

Ps:95:11:

Unto whom (INFERENTIAL CONJUNCTION ASHER = THEREFORE) I sware (SHABA = TO SAY SEVEN TIMES, TO MAKE A SOLEMN VOW) in my wrath that (IM = TRULY) they should not enter into my rest. (MENUCHAH = A STATE OF REST, TRANQUILITY, PEACE. REFERRED TO THE PROSPERITY OF THE PROMISED LAND, WHICH THE FIRST GENERATION OF ISRAEL AFTER THE EXODUS LOST DUE TO THEIR DISOBEDIENCE)
