Faith Of Our Fathers #4: The Sinner And Saint Simon

It is always good to read the Scripture. Not just portions of Scripture, but ALL of the Scripture. God’s Word has power to teach us all great things, if we will but read and listen. Man’s word is subject to failure. God’s Word is sure! Continue reading

Simplicity In Christ

The Apostle had invested of himself in the Church. He poured out his heart to the Church. He said “I am JEALOUS over you”, the Greek ZELOO {pronounced dzay-lo’-o) which means “to burn with zeal”. Paul was not jealous over the Church Continue reading

Faith Of Our Fathers #3: Apostle Thomas

We all have experienced times when we have had doubts. Don’t self righteously say that you never have. You have. I have. Continue reading

Cursed Is The One Who Hangs Upon The Tree

Jesus said “Our God is not the God of the dead, but of the LIVING” (Mark 12:27; Luke 20:38). Moses yet lives because our Savior lives. Jesus said to the Pharisees “Moses accuses you, because Moses WROTE OF ME.” Moses wrote of Jesus Christ in Deuteronomy 18. Jesus is the Prophet that God sent to replace Moses. … Continue reading

Foundations Of Our Faith #6: Protecting The Foundation

I grew up with traditional values. In my era Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz slept in twin beds, as did Rob and Laura Petrie on the Dick Van Dyke Show. As I got older my soul was fed by slowly degrading television. Laura Petrie left Rob and became Mary Richards on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. She introduced tight clothing and short nightgowns to America and young boys like me. Along came M*A*S*H and the introduction Continue reading

Three Days and Nights Ago

The prophets all spoke of this Jesus. He would be the Messiah Who would offer salvation to the world. If a scientist were to discover a cure for cancer or Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s the world would celebrate him and offer him the greatest adulation. Jesus Christ came to this earth to offer a cure for something greater than Cancer, greater than any disease you can think of. Jesus came to this earth to offer a cure for sin and death. He came to offer eternal life and supernatural cleansing to all who would believe. But how was Christ perceived? The prophets Continue reading

Psalm 110:1 Riddle Answered In Jesus

I had a message prepared for tonight, but God turned me in a different direction. This Passion Week we will continue to examine the road to Calvary, and what our Jesus went through. It was during this week that Jesus resolved the riddle of Psalm 110:1. I’ll explain that in a moment. Continue reading

Who Is This Man?

Jerusalem was filled with people. The time of the Passover Feast was once more upon Israel, and every faithful Jew was to go to the Temple to honor God their Savior. As families prepared to sacrifice a lamb without spot or blemish following the commandment of God another crowd descended on the city. Continue reading

Faith Of Our Fathers #2: Tears In A Bottle

A riddle I heard many years ago asked the question, “What physical thing do we have that Adam did not have”? I had to think about that for a bit before I came up with the answer. My Aunt Dot worked at the North Carolina Museum of Art, and I’ve seen a lot of beautiful pictures of Adam and Eve … and all of them wrong! Continue reading

Foundation Series #5: Walking With God

In Hebrews chapter 11 God wants us to know the blessing of walking with Him. God gives us a lot of examples of people – plain, ordinary, just folks – who were blessed beyond measure through faith, through a daily walk with God. You would think that God would start out with the Father of faith Abraham (Galatians 3:6-9). God spends some time throughout this chapter talking about Abraham, but He actually starts with two men that we know little about. God starts with Abel and Enoch. Continue reading
