Temptation And Trials Bring Us To The Target

1 Peter 1:5-9 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Trials come to everyone. If you breath, you will be tried. It is only in a fantasy – or in Heaven in the Presence of God – that you will be free of trials. In our bulletin today we have a grateful note from a member who was tried. It was nothing the member did that brought the trial, but as the member’s Church we reached out and ministered in the midst of that trial.

God allows trials so that we can learn to trust Him, and so that His Church can minister and NOT BE SELFISH.

Another family was tried when a loved one unexpectedly died. Again, this trial came without preamble or foretelling. It was not earned nor deserved, but came anyway. The trial again gave our Church an opportunity to “wash the feet of those in need”. This is what Jesus was illustrating when He, the Lord of Glory (1 Corinthians 2:8; James 2:1) knelt down and washed His disciples feet. Jesus asked His disciples,
