Standing For Jesus

Standing for Jesus will cost you something. And Beloved, you MUST stand for Jesus if you’re saved. Our Lord Jesus made that plain. He said:

Matthew 10:33 (ESV) whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

To deny Jesus is to lose the key to Heaven. To deny Jesus is to lose the blessing of His Presence when tried. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, the life. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME” (John 14:6). Peter denied Jesus three times (Matthew 26:70ff) when pressed by the crowd, but afterward “wept bitterly” (Matthew 26:75). Peter repented, and lived out his life standing up for Jesus. Peter was eventually crucified, giving his life for Jesus.

Beloved, if you’re saved, your faith may hiccup. BUT you will not deny Jesus and keep on denying Him no matter how hard pressed!

Polycarp, a disciple of the Apostle John was a Pastor in Smyrna. Roman authorities arrested him for preaching the Gospel of Christ, preaching that Jesus alone was Lord. When brought to trial, Polycarp was told to take an oath to Caesar, revile Christ, and he would be freed. Polycarp told the court:… Continue reading

God Calls Us To Righteousness

God Does Not Want You RELIGIOUS,
But RIGHTEOUS, In Line With His Word

When I read this scripture, my mind immediately went to the current state of the news – particularly in the political world. Can you remember the last time that you heard any good news? If it’s on the news, they have a saying: “If it bleeds, it leads”. The devil loves to emphasize the divisive, to tear apart. Who was it in the Garden of Eden who introduced strife? It was the serpent, Satan (Revelation 12:9; 20:2).

It is Satan’s intent to separate us from the good things of God, by separating us from God Himself.

This is what Satan did in the Garden of Eden. He questioned the clear Word of God. “Has God really said you shall not eat of every tree in the Garden”? (Genesis 3:1). The implication was that God was establishing a parameter that would rob us of our joy, that God was limiting our happiness. Satan’s ploy was to draw our attention from God, to ourselves. “You will only be happy when you please yourself, when you do that which satisfies you above your neighbor”.

This is what brings destruction. Back to our proverbs:… Continue reading

The Christian Target

This is not a text that God gives to the lost,
but to the saved Church That Belongs To Jesus

The lost care not a bit about glorifying God. The lost need to be saved before they can be taught to glorify God. This is a text for the Children of God. How do you become a Child of God? Do you work hard? Do you try to be better? Do you do religious things? No, you are saved by “calling upon the name of the Lord” (Genesis 4:26; Romans 10:13). The Scripture says:

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

It is faith in Jesus Christ that saves you. It is believing that the Blood of Christ, God’s Only Son, was shed on Calvary for your sins and mine. When God convinced you that you were a sinner without hope before His glorious Throne, and you repented and believed on Christ (Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19) then the Holy Spirit of God changed you.

John 6:63 … It is the Spirit that quickeneth (makes alive)… Continue reading

Living As Children Of Light

Jesus was very clear in this text. The Pharisees – religious as they were – were nonetheless the children of the devil. Why? Because they did not love Jesus. They did not heed His Word. They did not see Him as the Messiah, the Redeemer of His people… Continue reading

How Big Is Your God?

What you sow – the seed you plant – shall eventually bring forth a harvest. If you sow evil, you will harvest evil. If you sow good, you will reap good. Many years may pass before you see the harvest. Continue reading

Lord, Teach Us To Pray – Part 1

Jesus called His apostles – the first disciples – right after His temptation by the devil in the wilderness. “Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). In between preaching messages the Bible tells us that Jesus – walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea (Matthew 4:18). They were fishermen. Continue reading

Twelve Ebenezers

Sunday night we talked about Israel crossing the Jordan River. But we didn’t finish the story. One of the greatest events that God brought Israel to was the crossing of the Red Sea when they left Egypt. I looked it up Monday morning. The Red Sea crossing is in Exodus 14, and is recounted in about 964 words in my King James Bible. Continue reading

God Help Not Self Help

When I pastored a sweet community Church called Rock Hill I had several preachers that I prayed with every week. I wish I could find preachers now who would pray with me! Anyway, when I got together with my preacher friends and prayer partners the subject of growing the Church always came up. Continue reading

The Danger Of Pride

Isaiah 10:10-25 (KJV)  As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;  [11]  Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and … Continue reading
