The Names of God: El Shaddai
Our text today is not the first time YaHWeH came to Abram. Our God came to Abram while he was in Ur of the Chaldees. The name Abram means “exalted father”. When he was born his father Terah (whose name means “to breathe”) looked at Abram and had high hopes for him. He thought that Abram would – as mamma used to say – “do his family proud”, make a name for himself. He would have a large family, and he would be well honored as the father of a mighty clan. God The Builder Of His House
Before we start, the Scripture has nothing to do with building a Church building. The word “house” used by Solomon – the wisest King Israel ever had – is not a reference to a stick and mortar building. It is a reference to a family, or by extension a kingdom. You see the word used in … Continue reading

Kingdom Of Heaven Taken By Force
If you are born again you may fail – but Jesus will stand with you and lift you back up. When John had his crisis of faith Jesus did not abandon him. No, Jesus never abandons His children. Jesus did not condemn John, no more than He condemned Elijah in 1 Kings 19. After ministering that day Jesus told John’s disciples … Continue reading

A Sermon For Suicide Prevention Sunday
Jeremiah was overwhelmed with feelings of despair and hopelessness. He thought that his life was a total waste – that it would have been better that he had never been born. His ministry was unsuccessful, he felt, and his life’s work was a failure. Even the Apostle Paul said … Continue reading

Faith Of Our Fathers #5: What Are You Doing Here?
I love studying Elijah. Elijah is a bit of a mystery in the Scripture. His birth and childhood are never discussed in the Scripture. Elijah’s name in the Hebrew is אֵלִיָּהוּ, Eliyahu, meaning “My God is Yahweh”. Elijah is simply introduced in … Continue reading

The Spiritual Element
The Holy Spirit will give us truths from these texts, truths we need. Look! Listen! As we read of Israel entering the Promised Land the Lord tells His people to cast out the nations before you. How does God characterize these nations? Continue reading

Forty Years
Last Wednesday we were with Moses as he recounted Israel’s failure of faith at the Jordan. The first generation of Israel has passed into eternity over the last 40 years. Their children are now adults. Continue reading

Pride And Worry Go Away
I particularly want to be near God not just on the mountaintops of life, but also in the valleys. No one knows what tomorrow may bring. The weatherman can give a good guess as to whether it will be rainy or sunny, but only God knows if tomorrow that day will be happy and bright or gloomy and overcast. Continue reading

Unto The Hills
Our God does not get distracted. He watches over His Children. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. The Psalmist says that “He that keepeth Israel (His people) shall NEITHER slumber nor sleep”. The word “slumber” means “to daydream, to doze off”. The Lord never takes His eye off of His Child. Continue reading

The Christmas Story Part 1
When Jesus was born His birth brought the immortal into mortality. God fulfilled His Promise to send a Redeemer (Genesis 3:15; Revelation 12:7-9). God fulfilled His promise to Abraham in Christ (Genesis 12:3). God would step down from Heaven to be with us (Matthew 1:21-23; Isaiah 7:14). When we could not touch the face of God, God will come down so He can touch our face and our lives! Continue reading
