In Whom
Four times in this chapter the Apostle uses the phrase “In Whom” (en hos), or “in this Specific Person”. In Jesus Christ and in no other we have “REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD”. This is the first thing mentioned because – though all parts of salvation are important – redemption is key.
The word translated “REDEMPTION” is the Greek apolytrōsis. The word means “to pay a ransom or a fee to liberate a slave or to free a kidnapped victim”. The Blood of Jesus Christ is the purchase price that REDEEMS or BUYS BACK a person from enslavement. You ask the question, “What do you mean by enslavement?” The Scripture explains. When our forefather Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, Adam was the Federal Representative of all mankind. What he did, or did not do, reflected on us all. The Bible says that when Adam heeded his wife and the serpent rather than God, that, Continue reading

Return To His Family
Romans 3:24-28 (KJV) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (26) To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. (27) Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. (28) Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
What was God’s purpose when He created Adam and Eve, and placed them in a Garden East of Eden (Genesis 2:8)? The Bible says that God made man – male and female – in His image and in His likeness (Genesis 1:27). The Bible tells us that God is One (Galatians 3:20). Jesus said: Continue reading

Red Letters #22: What About Fasting?
Right after Jesus answers this question, next comes the Disciples of John the Baptist. There is a difference between the disciples of the Pharisees and the disciples of John. The Pharisees come to Jesus to criticize His ministry. The disciples of John are followers of the greatest Prophet who ever lived. Jesus said this, so it must be true:
Luke 7:28 … I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist:
Jesus said it, and I believe it. But now… Continue reading

In Christ Alone
Imagine if you would imagine, for just a moment, that before I started this sermon someone came running in. Breathlessly that person says:
“A money truck just turned over on the Santa Fe Pike right in front of the Church. The owner of the money has said that we can have all that we want – first come, first serve!” … Continue reading
Redeemed! How I Love To Proclaim It!
The Bible says two things of every believer in Christ. It says that we are redeemed, and that we are born again. Continue reading
