At Home In Christ’s Word

Some people say “My sin has trapped me, so I will focus on my sin.” That doesn’t work. That’s like going on a diet and studying a Pizza Hut menu so you’ll know what to avoid. It’s counterproductive. Repent of your sin, but make yourself at home in Christ’s Word. Continue reading

Early In The Morning

Jesus Christ is the Redeemer, the Lamb of God Who was in all points sinless. We are the redeemed because He is holy and pure. We are redeemed by His precious and sinless sacrifice. Continue reading

Living Water, Living God

As we come to John 7 we see it is the time for the Jewish Feast of Booths – also called Tabernacles or Sukkot. Tabernacles was an important and joyous time for the Jews. Continue reading

The Holy Spirit

I have heard people refer to the Holy Spirit as “It”, as if the Spirit were a power or a thing. He is not a thing. The Spirit is a Person. Continue reading

Jesus Loves Me

One of Jesus’ greatest sermons was one He preached from Capernaum. The sermon was not just great because Jesus preached it (and everything Jesus preached was great), but it was great because of the wonderful illustration Jesus gave the crowd the day before. Continue reading

Salvation Is God’s Family Business

When the Lord healed him and the man did so the Jews – particularly the Pharisees – sought to kill Jesus for healing someone on the Sabbath. How foolish is sin and how blinding is the Law! The Pharisees were so focused on their rituals that they couldn’t see that it is God that heals. If a person was healed by Jesus on the Sabbath it was because God wanted that person healed. Continue reading

Wilt Thou Be?

I was thinking about Heaven last Friday as I sought the Lord in prayer. I began to think about how people view Heaven. Several many years ago I watched Billy Graham appear on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Johnny loved to ask Billy teasing questions – and Billy was always quick to respond with good-natured love. Continue reading

Well, Well (Reflections on John 4:1-29)

Jesus never baptized anyone but commanded His disciples to do so. As the number of those baptized by Jesus surpasses that of John the Baptist the Pharisees begin to worry about Christ. Who was this young Upstart who ran people out of the Temple? The Man was rocking the boat, and they didn’t like it. Continue reading

What Does It Mean “To Believe”?

God loves the world. He made the world, but the world walked away from God. Like a prodigal son the world took the grace of God, the good He daily bestows, and walked away from the lover of our souls. God loves this world. This is amazing not because the world is so BIG, but because the world is so BAD. God through His Son seeks to save the world. Continue reading

You MUST Be Born Again

Jesus is LORD! He may have taught, but He is more than a Rabbi. He is LORD. He is God incarnate, God among us, God in the flesh. He is LORD. His Words are LIFE and LIGHT. Continue reading
