Products Of Grace

Romans 12:3-5 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

The Christian Is A Product Of Grace

In Criminal Law, the phrase “modus operandi” is a Latin phrase that refers to a “method of operation” or a pattern of behavior. The “modus operandi” or “method of operating” of a criminal is many times distinctive to that criminal, and helps law enforcement find that criminal quicker.

Reasonable Sacrifice, Reasonable Service

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. {2} And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

God In His Mercy Gave Us The Sacrifice

In the ancient world under the Old Covenant, also known as the Mosaic Law, the system of “atonement” or the covering of your sins was done by animal sacrifice. This practice was started by God in the Garden of Eden to show mankind how horrendous sin is. God told Adam:

Genesis 2:17 (KJV) of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam could have any fruit from any tree but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God knew that Adam would go for it, just as the parent who tells the child “Yes, there’s cookies. But no, you can’t have any till I say.” It isn’t long before the child plots on how he will get the cookies. So it was with Adam.

God made a promise to Adam, and
God keeps His promises.

God Is Not Done

I like to call today “Resurrection Sunday”, the most important Christian holiday there is. Though we make much of “Christmas”, very few people saw the Baby Jesus, the Incarnate Son of God in that manger in Bethlehem. I heard one man say,

When man reaches for God, this is called “religion”. But when God reached for man, we call this “Christmas”.

God reached down to save us. The Bible says that those who claim to follow Christ are to follow His example:

Philippians 2:3-7 (ESV) Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

Joy is not found in selfishness or narcissism, but in “humbling yourself, and count others more significant than yourselves”. Though He was God, and “in the beginning with God, and was God” as the Apostle John tells us (John 1:1-3), Jesus allowed Himself to be born through a relatively unknown virgin and her lowly carpenter fiancee’. The King’s Highway

As we approach Resurrection Sunday, the usual suspects will tell us that Jesus was a myth, that either He never existed, or if He existed, that He was killed and His body hidden. They will tell us that Jesus never rose from the grave. But there were eyewitnesses. The Apostles witnessed the resurrection, and wrote of it. Hundreds of people saw the resurrected Savior, and heard Him teach. When Chuck Colson was told “the Apostles made up the resurrection”, he replied:

“I know the resurrection is a fact, and Watergate proved it to me. How? Because 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead, then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. Every one was beaten, tortured, stoned and put in prison. They would not have endured that if it weren’t true. Watergate embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world — and they couldn’t keep a lie for three weeks. You’re telling me 12 apostles could keep a lie for 40 years? Absolutely impossible.”

You Are Either Condemned Or Uncondemned

There are two states that every person can be in: CONDEMNED or UNCONDEMNED before God.

Word Study: To those in love with Jesus, there is “NO CONDEMNATION”. That word “CONDEMNATION” is the Greek katakrima (pronounced kat-ak’-ree-mah), literally means “a sentence of damnation”. When Adam sinned against God, his actions brought katakrima, that is “a sentence of damnation” on all his children. We are told:

Romans 5:18 (KJV) … by the offense of one (Adam) judgment came upon all men to CONDEMNATION (katakrima)

All are born in a state of condemnation. But Jesus has told us:

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only Begotten Son of God. … Continue reading →

Don’t Quit Running, Christian!

Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In chapter 11 God defined faith for us. Faith must be in the proper OBJECT, as faith in the wrong thing or wrong person will not save your soul. We read:

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please {God}: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Faith must come to GOD, believing that He is. Faith must come to Jesus, believing that He is the Messiah. Faith must come to the Bible, believing it is the Word of God. Faith must be in the proper PERSON, the proper OBJECT. … Continue reading →

So What’s The Difference Between Catholic And Baptist?

That which is called “The Catholic Church” is as imperfect and blemished as every other Church on the earth is. Can you be saved and be a Catholic? I’ll answer that with a question: Can you be saved and be a Baptist, a Presbyterian, a Church of Christ, a Methodist? Absolutely. If you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and are fully reliant upon Him for salvation, then yes, you can be saved. It is not the denomination that saves you, but your faith in Christ Jesus. Having said that, I would not recommend the Catholic Church to any Christian. It is Christ’s death alone that can satisfy or propitiate God’s wrath against sinners (Romans 3:25; Hebrews 2:17; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10). No man on this earth is your priest, dear believer. Every believer is a king and a priest unto God, and Jesus Christ our High Priest. No man dressed in black, or red, or in white so called the “Vicar of Christ” forgives sin nor makes you right before God. As the Scripture says:…. Continue reading →

If Anyone Draw Back

“God is Love” is a favorite sermon in the United States. The sermon is largely preached by Evangelists and Pastors that are more concerned about numbers and noses than they are your eternal soul. How We Got Our Bible #4: The New Testament Formation (Part 1)

As our Lord Jesus taught, He did not create new Scripture – but instead properly interpreted and taught Scripture to show its true intent. Groups like the Pharisees, though well meaning, had twisted the Scripture through their own opinion. Jesus chastised them for this, saying:

Mark 7:6-9 Well hath Esaias {Isaiah} prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

The Old Covenant Is Gone Forever

Hebrews 10:5-6 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Who is the One that “COMETH INTO THE WORLD”? Who is it Who had “A BODY PREPARED FOR ME”? It is Jesus. The Bible says:

1 Timothy 1:15 Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners …

Mark 10:45 … even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

And again in John 6:38-39 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
