The Way To God
Proverbs 16:21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
Gentle, Then Harder Is More Effective
Our Lord Jesus Christ is a perfect example of One Who is “wise in heart” and yet “sweet of the lips”. Jesus knew that most people responded easier to gentler teaching, or as the Apostle said,
Ephesians 4:15 … speaking the TRUTH in LOVE …
When Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well our Lord knew that she was living in adultery. Jesus would later tell her,
John 4:16-18 (NKJV) .. Go, call your husband, and come here. 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.
Jesus did not begin with her sin, but with “Give Me some water from the well”. Intrigued, and knowing Jesus was a Jew, she said,.. Continue reading

Affliction Of The Wicked
Proverbs 14:32-35 (KJV) The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. 33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. 34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. 35 The king’s favor is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
If I were to sum up the theme of these four verses it would be:
Those who do evil are afflicted, but those who follow righteousness are blessed!
There Is A Payday Coming Someday
Proverbs 14:32 (KJV) The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
People of every age have mocked God, ignored His precepts, terrorized His people, and generally bathed themselves in wickedness. They believe that they are doing this with impunity. They could not be more wrong. The Bible tells us that: Continue reading
Honor God In Your Life
Proverbs 14:28 In the multitude of people is the king’s honor: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
Leaders Need To Understand God Made Them, And God Is Watching
Though the Bible tells us that:
Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
The King, the Politician, the Business Leader or CEO, even the Pastor must realize that the Lord Who installed them is the Lord they must report to. God places leaders in leadership positions. “the powers that be are ordained of God”. … Continue reading

Doctrine of Baptisms
… If you are Christ’s possession, if you have given yourself to Him as Lord and Savior, neither sin nor death has any hold over you. Praise God! Heaven is the destination of the believer in Christ. Heaven in glory, and Heaven on this earth walking with Jesus.
Do you know Him? Oh Beloved, if you do not, may the Holy Spirit touch your hearts, and bring you from death to life this very day. Do not leave this place without Jesus. May God so secure your souls. Call upon the name of Jesus, surrendering to Him, and you shall be saved. Continue reading
Losing Your Soul
“DESIRE” is not a bad thing. The word translated “DESIRE” is the Hebrew ta’ăvâ which means “desires, wishes, longing for that which you do not have”. When used in a negative way, it can mean “lust or covetousness”.
God made humans with the ability to desire, to want something outside of ourselves.
When God made man and woman, the Bible says that God said “Let Us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let THEM have DOMINION over the earth” (Genesis 1:26). God gave man and woman the whole world and everything in it. Adam and Eve lacked nothing, but were told to dominate all creatures. God told them:
Genesis 1:28-29 (ESV) Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
Adam and Eve were to desire three things… Continue reading

Being Faithful Ambassadors
Proverbs 13:16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
Christians Do Not Make Their Own Truths
One of my favorite Presidents was Ronald Reagan. I never thought he was much of an actor (I liked John Wayne or Clint Eastwood), but he made a great president. He knew how to say things gently, humorously, and in a way that even made his enemies laugh. During one speech he said:… Continue reading
Judgment Day Is Coming
The Apostle addresses the “beloved of God”. The word “BELOVED” is the Greek agapētos, which certainly means “BELOVED”, but it means also “those well favored, those worthy of love”. The believer in Christ is worthy of love because he is a believer in Christ. Jesus Christ is God’s “BELOVED Son” (Matthew 3:17). God told the Prophet Isaiah of the Lord Jesus, saying:
Matthew 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
When you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior you are “BELOVED” for His sake. You are “called to be SAINTS” because Christ’s sacrifice is reckoned to your life. As father Abraham believed on and received Christ, we do as well. Christ’s righteousness is “imputed to us, if we believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offenses, and raised for our justification”.
But as we come to Romans chapter two, the Word of God does not address the Church, but the lost world. We read:
Romans 2:1 … Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man …
Romans 2:3 … And thinkest thou this, O man …
Word Study: It is not the “BELOVED” that is addressed, but “MAN”, the Greek anthrōpos which means “human being, whether male or female”. The Beloved of God, the Christian is to “let your light so shine before MEN (anthrōpos), that they (the lost) may see our good works, and glorify our Father Who is in Heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Steward Your Riches Wisely
Proverbs 11:22 As a JEWEL OF GOLD in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is WITHOUT DISCRETION (sûr ṭaʿam).
A woman’s beauty is her riches – both internal and external. External beauty will be marred by time and life itself, but internal beauty will deepen as a woman grows in her relationship with the Lord. Solomon likens the woman’s beauty to a “JEWEL OF GOLD”. The woman should guard her beauty, to be careful to whom she gives it. To give her beauty “WITHOUT DISCRETION” (Hebrew sûr ṭaʿam, without careful judgment) through lewd behavior, sexual advances, or immodest dress is to defile that which God gave her for good. When women are indiscrete in dress or behavior with the opposite sex – or even their own gender – they are like a jewel in a pig’s snout.
Under the Law of God (Leviticus 11:7) the pig was not to be eaten because it had hooves but did not chew the cud. The Orthodox Jew considered pigs to be so unclean that they were not even called by their proper name, but were called “davar acher, meaning “another thing”. Jews were not even allowed to raise pigs. Pigs were abhorrent because:… Continue reading

The Third Commandment
The Name of God defines Who God is. God is “I Am”. He is Eternal, without beginning or end. “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17). God has no starting place. He was never created, but has always been the Creator. God knows all things. “His understanding is beyond measure” (Psalm 147:5). Dr. Adrian Rogers wrote:
“The name Jehovah is used some 6,800 times in the Bible. It is the personal covenant name of Israel’s God. In the King James Version of the Bible, it’s translated Lord God. Not only does it speak of God’s strength, but also it speaks of the sovereignty of God and the goodness of God. The root of this name means “self-existing,” one who never came into being, and one who always will be. When Moses asked God, “Who shall I tell Pharaoh has sent me?” God said, “I AM THAT I AM.””
God is eternal and UNCHANGING. He is I AM. “I the Lord do not change” (Malachi 3:6). Our God DEPENDS ON NO ONE. His Name is I AM. “The Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.” (John 5:26). Our God is the pattern of all life. God’s Name is not “YOU ARE” but “I AM”. “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth” (Psalm 33:6). There is nothing that God cannot do except evil. Pastor John MacArthur writes: Continue reading

Suffering Well
As humans, we often ask “Why is there suffering in this world we are in?” Sometimes we see suffering in children, such as those at St Jude’s Hospital. Open your newspaper and you don’t have far to look for suffering. I subscribe to “Main Street Maury”, our local newspaper. I like it because it seems to have balanced reporting. In the opinion section there is a liberal column right next to a Libertarian column. I don’t agree with all I read, but I do like balanced reporting. I look at my paper. On the front page, “SAFE Clinic helps victims of violence”. A wonderful ministry operated locally by the Center of Hope. It exists because of suffering. Turn the page. “Domestic incident leads to Columbia woman’s death; suspect hospitalized”. This is horrible. It’s suffering. Next page. “Free legal assistance to low income residents”. Suffering. The obituaries. Death and suffering. You see where I’m going.
If “God is good”, if there is a God Who created all things, why is there such suffering?
The Bible tells us that suffering entered our world because mankind chose to walk away from the God Who created all things “VERY GOOD” (Genesis 1:31). When God made us, He made us – both male and female – “in Our image, after Our likeness” (Genesis 1:26). God gave humans authority over the earth, telling us to “have dominion” and to “multiply and fill the earth”. God gave us authority over the animals and nature, but gave us a free will to make choices. We could choose to follow our Creator, or we could follow another created being.
Many of us, like Adam, choose to follow
the created rather than the Creator…. Continue reading
